Total Pancreatectomy and Islet Auto Transplantation in South Australia: A Preliminary Evaluation of a 10-Year Experience

Hereditary pancreatitis causes severe early-onset pain and hospitalisation. In 15 Australian patients undergoing total pancreatectomy and islet auto transplantation (TPIAT), we observed a marked reduction in hospital admissions, inpatient days and emergency visits, complete analgesic cessation by 24 months and durable insulin independence in nearly half of the patients. These findings highlight TPIAT's potential to improve quality of life and reduce healthcare burden. Our programme aims to build evidence to support public funding and ensure equitable access to this procedure.

A qualitative study of genomics in cancer control for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians

To describe the perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and health care workers on genomics in cancer care to inform the National Framework for Genomics in Cancer Control (the Framework).

CAR T cells targeting B7H3 demonstrate potent preclinical activity against AML and ESCC

T cells engineered to express chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) are a promising modality to treat refractory cancers. CD19 CAR-T therapy has achieved remarkable responses in against B-cell lymphomas, however, challenges persist for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and solid malignancies. B7H3 is an immune regulatory molecule that is highly expressed in various tumor cells. Its abnormal expression in acute AML and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is closely related to tumor progression.

Physicochemical compatibility of alprostadil injection with parenteral medications used in neonatal intensive care settings

The physicochemical compatibility of alprostadil injection with secondary intravenous (IV) drugs and 2-in-1 parenteral nutrition (PN) solutions used in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit settings was investigated.

Antibiotic exposure in culture-negative preterm infants: a 10-year single-centre study

Antibiotic exposure in neonatal intensive care units (NICU) is high. This study describes antibiotic use in very preterm infants and examines the association between duration of exposure and outcomes in blood culture negative (CN) infants.

Prenatal ambient heat exposure and neurodevelopment: A scoping review of human and animal research

Ambient heat exposure during pregnancy is associated with adverse outcomes, and adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes are an emerging concern. This scoping review synthesises human and animal evidence on the association between prenatal ambient heat exposure and poor neurodevelopmental outcomes.

Move to improve: protocol for a single-arm, pragmatic feasibility trial of an individualised physical activity programme for children with chronic conditions

Physical activity improves physical and psychosocial outcomes in healthy children and in children with a range of chronic health conditions. Unfortunately, children with chronic health conditions have lower levels of physical activity compared to their healthy peers due to multiple restrictions in physical activities and therefore tend to have lower levels of physical activity compared with their peers. This paper describes the protocol for Move to Improve, a pragmatic trial of an individualised physical activity intervention for children with chronic health conditions.

Invasive mould infection in children – advances made or obstacles remaining?

Invasive mould infection (IMI) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised children. Outcomes for paediatric patients with IMI remain poor, due in part to the limitations of available diagnostic tools and therapeutic agents.

A small molecule inhibitor of RNA-binding protein IGF2BP3 shows anti-leukemic activity

The RNA-binding protein IGF2BP3 is an oncofetal protein overexpressed in B-acute lymphoblastic leukemia and is critical for leukemogenesis in experimental models. With cancerspecific expression, functional dispensability for normal development, and an unleveraged prooncogenic function in mRNA homeostasis, IGF2BP3 represents an excellent target.
